Termez




Termez is the administrative center of Surkhandarya region and one of the oldest cities in Central Asia. It is located on the right bank of the Amu Darya yards. Bordering with Tajikistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, Termez is about 20 thousand sq. km. In the entire history of the city, it was conquered several times by different rulers and was repeatedly renamed. However, according to legend, the founder of Termez is considered to be the king of Bactrian Zoroaster.

A huge influence on the subsequent development of the ideology of the southern city of Uzbekistan has Buddhism (1-7 in.). Throughout that time, Termez was considered the center of Buddhism. The discovered remains of Buddhist structures is proof of this.
