In 1918, on the basis of a small collection (500 exhibits) was founded Museum of Arts of Uzbekistan. There were creations of Russian and Western European art.

Later, the museum added artifacts brought from Leningrad and Moscow to its collection. The museum includes works by Uzbek masters as well.
