One of the most mysterious places of the city is the oldest ensemble of Shakhi Zinda.

One after the other during the 14-15 century eleven magnificent and colorful mausoleums were built.

The main function of this complex is the burial place of a noble kind of people.

Ensemble name was given in honor of Kusama ibn Abbas, which is popularly known as Shakhi Zinda (Alive king). As a cousin of the Prophet Muhammad, Kusama ibn Abbas mausoleum is considered the primary and most visited one among other mausoleums of the ensemble.
