As Deputy Prime Minister Aziz Abdukhakimov mentioned, 3.4 million foreign citizens visited Uzbekistan for 8 months.
“Over 8 months of 2018, the number of foreign visitors was 3.4 million compared to 1.5 million (+ 226%) for the same period in 2017. It is projected that the number of foreign tourists visiting Uzbekistan by the end of the year will be 4.8 million people instead of 3.3 million previously planned, the export of tourist services for 8 months amounted to 666.9 million dollars, more than double the amount compared to the same period in 2017 ($ 327.3 million) – as Abdukhakimov said.
To attract the tourists to the country the government implements following measurements: the improvement of the electronic visa regime continues, including the introduction of double and multiple visas, as well as combined visa issuance systems with neighboring countries.
According to the deputy prime minister, measures are also being taken to improve the transport connection with neighboring countries through the establishment of scheduled bus and rail flights, the opening of new routes linking airports, railway and bus stations with regional centers.
