Nodira
The real name of the poetess known under the pen-name Nodira was Mohlar oyim, and in some Uzbek poems she used the pen-name Komila. And her poems in Persian were written under the pen-name Maknuna.
The poetess was born in 1792 in the family of Andijan rejent Rahmonqul otaliq. Her mother Oyshabegim tried to develop her daughter comprehensively. The ruler of Kokand Olimxon married his brother Umarxon to his uncle Rahmonquls daughter Mohlar oyim in 1807. As Umarhon got Margilon in his command, he took away the poetess with himself.
From 1810, when Umarhon became the ruler of Kokand, Nodira began to live in his castle in Kokand. She used the library of the castle with profit and learned the works of famous oriental poets like Sadiy, Hofiz, Jomiy, Navoiy, Fuzuliy and Bedil. Her poems took in their literal traditions.
Umarhon wasnt only ruler and beloved husband, but a teacher in literature and poetry for Nodira. The poetess wrote her best works as tatabbu (conformity) to Umarhons works.
Nodira assembled the poetesses in the castle. Such well-known poetesses of that time as Jahon Otin Uvaysiy, Mahzuna, Dilshod Barno apprenticed to Nodira. In 1822 Umarhon died, and as the successor Madalihon was very young many problems of ruling were to be solve by Nodira.
In 1842 the ruler of Bukhara Nasrullohon conquered Kokand. By his order Nodira and her two sons Muhammad Alihon and Sulton Mahmudhon were executed. But her great name remained in history forever. More than 200 gazels of Nodira reached us.
